All three members from THE ORANGE BOX are from Baldwin High School and play in the school’s Jazz and Concert band. Pekelo on lead guitar and vocals is the leader of the band, and comes from a very musical family – both parents are professional (fulltime) musicians. He also plays trombone for the Baldwin Concert band and bass guitar for the Jazz band. Reid on drums plays percussion for the Baldwin concert band. Brian on bass guitar, plays electric guitar for jazz band – he is also an original member of “Fitzroy”, a band formed for last year’s Band Champ competition.
The band name “THE ORANGE BOX” comes from a popular video game Brian recommended to Pekelo. These teenagers from Maui are influenced by the likes of Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, Metallica and Green Day. The trio have played together for a year now.
