Why Bother - Kamehameha Schools
“Why Bother” consists of two friends who have played music together since the 7th grade and entered Band Champ to share their Hawaiian contemporary music with others. Dane Lum Ho, a 17-year-old junior raised in Makawao, and Kala’e Camarillo an 18-year-old senior from Kihei, currently attend Kamehameha Schools. The duo credits both of their instrumental abilities, especially Dane’s guitar playing, as their strengths to help them win Band Champ.
“Why Bother” gets their musical inspiration from Jason Mraz, Jimi Hendrix, John Mayer and Santana. They performed before several live audiences in the past but admit to getting back-stage jitters before playing. Both plan to head to college after high school to pursue degrees in music.
